“I work in a pretty busy county for the Sheriff's Office. as well as given a later day to appear in court. cHowever due to oe His vehicle was impounded since it is our standard procedure.er ounties with a lot of crime, our county jail faces over crowding and often times the crimminals lodged get released early. We work 12 hr shifts and I work on the weekend night shift from 6pm to 6am. So one busy Saturday night around 11 pm one of our deputies stopped a guy that was driving crazy and ended up arresting him for DUI. Usually when someone is arrested here for DUI they are lodged into the county jail and released once they sober up and of course ”

Only in L.A.: We were responding to a domestic violence call where the guy supposedly had a knife. While you never want to get complacent, cops do run hundreds of these every day across the nation. Nice neighborhood, early evening, no big deal. About a block away from the call, in the middle of the street, we see this: The woman on her back, bloody. The husband straddling her mid-section, repeatedly stabbing her in the chest. Each stab and removal, you can see blood coming off the knife. ...

I was a probationer (a term used by LAPD police officers for their first 18 months of their career). It was morning watch (10:15 pm to 7:00 am) and we were almost finished with our very slow shift. We received a radio call of, "men with guns, attempting to car-jack victim and his family. Victim is being chased by suspects in vehicle, north-bound Vermont Avenue..." My partner knew this wasn't a car-jacking in process, his 30 years on the LAPD told him that this was a different kind of robbery ...

Police officers in Los Angeles have to investigate most deaths, primarily to determine if they are natural or if their was foul-play. I just got back from a call to find the hard working officers I supervise in the station. They were there with 4 children, waiting to be picked up for foster homes. Mom was in custody for domestic violence. The youngest was 3 months old. Cute as a button. THEN I find out that the 3-month-old is being taken from --- you guessed it --- a FOSTER mom. In other words, on to mom number 3 at only 3 months old. And we wonder why people grow up to be criminals. I'll remember that little smile for ...
